construction warranties
Permanence. At Blue Stone Construction Inc. our goal is not only to build a satisfactory product but to build a product that lasts the test of time. Why settle for a half-rate product and the hastles of constant fixes and upgrades when it all could have been avoided by having taken the time to "do it right the first time."
That said, the motto, "Do it right the first time," only goes so far. Sometimes defective materials, sometimes abnormal conditions, sometimes human error can cause a part of the project to "not go right the first time." The question is how will your contractor handle it?
So our customers will know how we will handle it, we have provided several different warranty options based on the type of work getting done.
New Home Warranty
All our new home construction is certified by
Progressive Home Warranty. Progressive Home Warranty is an independent home warranty and arbitration company. They provide several quality assurance inspections over the course of construction and guarantee that the home was built to meet or exceed their quality standards. In the event of a dispute between the builder and homeowner regarding the quality of construction, Progressive Home Warranty conducts an investigation and reports a course of resolution. This protects both the contractor and the customer. Progressive Home Warranty is recognized as a viable warranty by most lenders.
We also provide in-house warranties for all our renovation work. Be sure to ask us the details.
Framing Warranty
When framing is part of a full general contracting package, it falls under the umbrella of our New Home Warranty. When framing is contracted separately the following limitations of warranty apply:
- Warranty will cover our framing structural components for a full five years after construction.
- Warranty will ensure that our framing will pass municipal inspections.
- Warranty will cover damage done to the property, materials, and or building due to negligence on the part of Blue Stone Construction Inc.
- Warranty will be void if house does not have a roofing product properly installed within 2 weeks of framing completion.
- Warranty will be void if house does not have an exterior finishing material or home wrap installed within 1 month of framing completion.
- Warranty will be void if house does not have drywall or other interior system installed within 6 weeks of framing completion.
- Warranty does not cover twisting, bowing, or other warping of dimensional lumber.
- Warranty does not cover damage from rot, mould, mildew, insects, or rodents.
- Warranty does not cover any natural disaster or abnormal weather conditions.
- Warranty will be void if the foundation is discovered to be defective.
- Warranty will be void if framing is modified by anyone other than an employee of Blue Stone Construction Inc.
Materials Warranties
Almost all the materials we use are covered by a warranty of some sort ranging from 30 days to lifetime durations. Some of the warranties are indicitive of the lifespan of the product, such as asfault shingles, and replacement of the product should be expected at the end of the warranty. Other products carry a warranty that is only effective if installed by a certified installer. Our staff carry such certifications; in other cases, we use our qualified subtrades.
Since the limitations of warranty vary so drastically from product to product, it is hard to establish a general rule for all materials. In many instances our warranty will cover a portion of the materials used as well as the labour to install them. If you have any questions or concerns about the warranty/lifespan of the product being used, our crew leaders are very knowledgeable and would be pleased to answer your concerns.
Providing warranty services on materials would be void in cases such as the following:
- A product is supplied by the customer and installed or modified by Blue Stone Construction Inc.
- A product that was supplied by Blue Stone Construction Inc. and installed or modified by the customer.
- An existing product that was removed by Blue Stone Construction Inc. and then reinstalled.
